Motorcycle safety tips for the inexperienced rider

It's understandable that riding a motorcycle is beyond exhilarating. But, if you are an inexperienced rider, you need to take extra safety precautions to ensure that you do not find yourself involved in an accident or injured because of an accident. Here are some safety tips for inexperienced motorcycle riders in California.

Never ride your motorcycle without the proper safety gear. This includes a helmet, reflective vest, boots, long clothing, sunglasses and gloves. All of these items protect you from road rash should you be involved in an accident that throws you from the motorcycle onto the road. All of your clothing should be tight so that it does not get caught in the bike.

Teach yourself to become a defensive driver. You need to understand, or come to the realization, that other drivers will not see you when on the road. Learn how to spot drivers that are not paying attention, those who are not slowing down behind you, those that are weaving in their lanes and much more. When you learn how to drive defensively, you can reduce the chances of being involved in an accident.

Check your motorcycle before each trip. Check the tires, the gas level, the fluid levels, the brakes and more. Finding an issue that needs to be repaired prior to hitting the road just might save your life.

Always follow the rules of the road, including the traffic laws. Obey posted speed limits and do not weave in and out of traffic.

Avoid riding in inclement weather and at night. These are two scenarios that can be more indicative of an accident due to lack of sight and poor weather conditions.

Being injured while riding a motorcycle can derail your dreams. Working with an experienced motor vehicle accidents attorney in Los Angeles can help you recover damages for injuries suffered, including lost wages.
