Accidents that involve a drunk driver are among the most devastating crashes on the road. Intoxicated drivers have slower reflexes and impaired vision. They are also more likely to make dangerous and impulsive decisions which put other people in jeopardy of being hurt of killed.
One such driver was recently arrested under suspicion of drunk driving after he caused a horrific accident that resulted in multiple injured parties and one tragic fatality.
Sources report that a California man was driving his pickup truck at 3:25 in morning when he got onto the wrong side of the highway. He was traveling south in the northbound lanes when he crashed his truck head-on into another vehicle.
The driver of the car that was hit was killed in the accident, and two of his passengers suffered serious injuries from which they are recovering in the hospital. The pickup truck driver also hit a van during the crash and three people in the van were injured as well. The pickup truck driver was arrested for drunk driving.
This is not the first time such an accident has occurred on the highway. In fact, this is the second time this week a wrong-way driver has caused a fatal motor vehicle accident on that stretch of highway.
Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol present a serious hazard behind the wheel. They are reckless and their decision-making skills can be seriously affected. It is not uncommon to read about drunk drivers who cause an accident because they are driving the wrong way down a road. Victims of these accidents and their families have the right to pursue compensation from these negligent drivers. Money cannot undo the catastrophic damage that may have been done in an accident like this one, but it can help the people who have suffered as a result of the crash begin to recover.
